Overview

I led the development of bilingual microlearning courses on California workplace law, training corporate employees and managers on key labor regulations.

The series—covering topics like salaried vs. hourly classification, meal and rest break rules, overtime laws, and wage policies—was white-labeled and adopted by the Los Angeles and Santa Monica Chambers of Commerce for broader workforce training.

My Role

I led end-to-end micro-course design and development—overseeing project management, instructional design, video production, and eLearning development.

Project Management

  • Managed timelines, stakeholder communications, and client deliverables across multiple business partners.
  • Coordinated with the Los Angeles and Santa Monica Chambers of Commerce to align training goals with workforce needs.

Instructional Design

  • Designed concise, bilingual learning modules focused on real-world compliance scenarios.
  • Conducted needs assessments and facilitated focus groups to validate learning approaches.

Video Production

  • Developed scripts for 1–2 minute animated videos on key compliance topics.
  • Led English and Spanish voiceover production, including narration direction and coordination with voice talent.
  • Created character-based animated videos using Adobe After Effects, incorporating motion graphics and post-production editing.

eLearning Development

  • Built interactive micro-courses in Articulate Storyline with integrated knowledge checks.
  • Ensured accessibility and usability across desktop and mobile platforms.

Process

I followed the ADDIE instructional design framework to ensure a structured, learner-centered approach:

1. Analysis

  • Collaborated with employment law experts and business stakeholders to identify key compliance topics and organizational goals.
  • Conducted learner focus groups to understand knowledge gaps and preferred learning formats.

2. Design

  • Wrote video scripts in English, and translated to Spanish, using culturally responsive language.
  • Developed storyboards for each video module, and selected assets for After Effects animation.

3. Development

  • Produced animated videos in Adobe After Effects using character-based motion graphics and bilingual voiceover narration.
  • Built micro-modules in Articulate Storyline with embedded knowledge checks to validate learning and issue completion certificates.

4. Implementation

Delivered micro-courses to Sciotran and collaborated with the Los Angeles and Santa Monica Chambers of Commerce, along with other business partners, to customize modules for targeted workforce delivery.

5. Evaluation

Launched courses with target audiences, gathered feedback, and refined content and assessments to improve clarity, engagement, and knowledge retention.
